I’ve loved so many movies this year, but nothing in 2022 moved me quite like “Tár.” 🍿Starring Cate Blanchett, the Todd Field–directed film tells the story of the “cancellation” of Lydia Tár, a legendary (though fictional) American composer who holds so many accolades it’s laughable to list them all. 🎼 But to call “Tár” just a movie about cancel culture would be an oversimplification. “Tár” puts the spectacle of a mad genius in our digital, interconnected world on full display, and is so well done that its protagonist has been widely mistaken for a real person. That is no small part due to Blanchett’s captivating performance, my favorite of the year. Tár is both laugh-out-loud funny and a gripping thriller of a ghost story. Oh, and the music is incredible too👍👍👍
