🤩 If summertime’s daytime adventures have ended, and imagination is still running high in your house as dusk falls, I suggest an animated film from a bunch of Studio Ghibli alums that will please multiple age groups: “The Imaginary,” from “Spirited Away” director Yoshiyuki Momose. The main character of “The Imaginary” is Amanda (voiced by Rio Suzuki), a little girl with an inventive imagination struggling with her father’s death. Her companion is Rudger (Kokoro Terada), an imaginary friend sworn to protect her. They spend much of their time in wild expeditions across Ghibli-esque landscapes in which you can get swallowed by a giant jellyfish and end up in a field of wildflowers. At first, their journeys are an escape from the sorrow in Amanda’s home. They take on a more serious tone with the arrival of Mr. Bunting (Issey Ogata), a mustachioed villain clad in a Hawaiian shirt who hunts imaginary friends such as Rudger. youtube.com/watch?v=-nW6L..
